Willows News - Autumn 2019
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9 v 6
Dear Supporter - Greetings from Willows in this season of Christmas
What a lovely reminder for us as a counselling service that Jesus is called Wonderful Counsellor. Willows continues to be a vital service for the people of Swindon, providing counselling and training. We have been working hard to ensure we can be financially sustainable in the future having faced a substantial potential financial deficit and have had to make the difficult decision of making the post of Strategic Development Manager redundant and restructure our team. At the same time we welcomed our new Finance Manager Tamasin Connet who is replacing Helen Pomfrey and are grateful for a helpful handover period. We are delighted to have some new counsellors join our team and are excited about our new Skills Groups starting in the New Year. An exciting programme of training commences this year with a new Level 2 Introduction Course on Pastoral Counselling starting in February 2020 and a Level 5 in Trauma Counselling commencing January 2020 Our Level 3 and Level 4 Diploma will be taking applications for the new courses starting in September. We have been delighted with the bookings for our Willows Workshops which we are running at Willows this year. We have a varied programme and encourage you to check these and all the training out on our website www.willowscounselling.org.uk/training-cpd A huge thank you to our Friends of Willows team and everyone who donated cakes for our annual cake stall at Christchurch Christmas Fayre. Due to people’s kindness and generosity we had 4 Christmas hampers to raffle this year. We also want to say a huge thank you to teams form Nationwide, National Trust and Zurich who have helped us tremendously by cleaning, painting, gardening and putting up our Christmas decorations. Christmas can be a wonderful and also a tricky time for people and I want to acknowledge the dedication of all our counsellors, supervisors and staff who are so committed to our clients all of the time but particularly at this time of the year. We very much value your prayers, goodwill and support.
Blessings from Tanya and the Willows Team
