Willows Counselling Service - Mental Health Awareness Week 2025

Celebrating 2 years of partnership

Last week was Mental Health Awareness Week and, for Willows Counselling & Training, it also marked the two-year anniversary of Denise Brent and Amanda Cook in their joint CEO roles.

In the spirit of this year's theme of ‘community’, the joint CEOs went out delivering small wellbeing gifts to a number of local organisations and businesses who have actively supported the Willows community, as well as to the wider community in Swindon. The aim was simply to remind people to take some time to pause and resource themselves and their teams.

The importance of community

Denise Brent, Joint CEO at Willows said: “Community is at the heart of all we do at Willows. We are therefore delighted and grateful to work in collaboration with other community minded charities, organisations, and businesses, to support and serve the people of Swindon, Wiltshire, and the southwest. The wellbeing goody bags are a small way of extending our support to others.”

Looking ahead

The joint CEO-ship symbolised a change in strategic direction for us here at Willows Counselling & Training, as we seek to adapt to the changing landscape of the counselling and psychotherapy sector, in order to build sustainability for this much needed charitable service which has been serving the local community for over 32 years.  As a counselling and training organisation, which sees over 70 adult clients each week and receiving no statutory funding, the team work hard to generate sufficient income to subsidise many of these sessions.
