Overview

An in-person CPD workshop exploring how we might work with dreams in therapy.

About the course:

Dreams were once more central to therapeutic work, but now many therapists can feel uncertain about how to respond when clients bring dream material into the room. This CPD workshop offers an introduction to working with client dreams therapeutically, with a particular focus on staying curious, grounded and relational rather than rushing to interpret or explain.

Influenced by process-oriented approaches, including the work of Arnold Mindell, this workshop will explore dreams as part of the client’s unfolding process: something that may carry image, feeling, body experience, conflict, direction, or meaning. Through teaching, discussion, and case material, participants will consider ways of opening up conversations about dreams and working with dream images, symbols and embodied experience in a way that supports the therapeutic relationship.

This workshop is particularly suitable for both qualified and trainee counsellors/psychotherapists.

Please note: Participants may wish to bring a dream to reflect on, though this is not required.

About the speaker:

Dimitris is a UK-based psychotherapist, EMDR therapist and Clinical Training Lead, with 17 years’ experience of working therapeutically with clients. His clinical work is informed by existential and psychodynamic perspectives, with a particular specialism in grief and bereavement psychotherapy.

He is a Psychology graduate and also holds an MSc in Counselling and Psychotherapy and an MSc in Contemporary Theatre Practice, bringing together clinical, psychological and creative ways of understanding human experience. Dimitris is currently pursuing a PhD while teaching psychotherapy, drawing on his diverse academic and professional background to create reflective, engaging and clinically grounded learning spaces.

Level 4 Student

I completed the Level 2 in order to test the waters as to whether counselling was something I definitely wanted to pursue. I'd thoroughly recommend it, either if you're considering training in counselling as a profession, or if you'd like to develop listening and responding skills to enhance your current personal or working life.
