Walking the West Highland Way

West Highland Way Walk

154km Walk Completed!

Willows' co-CEO, Amanda Cook, has  completed this epic walk to raise almost £1500 to fund the renovation of one of our counselling rooms and help fund counselling sessions.

Between 11th and 18th April, our co-CEO and counselling manager, Amanda, walked from Milngavie to Fort William along the West Highland Way in Scotland through a wide variety of scenery and across a range of challenging terrain.  During 8 days of walking, Amanda and her daughter covered no less than 154km (96 miles).

We are so grateful to the wonderful supporters who have sponsored her efforts and generously donated money towards the work of Willows Counselling.

The Impact:

Willows Counselling has provided counselling services to the community of Swindon for more than 30 years.  We firmly believe that being on a low-income should not be a barrier to accessing good mental health support and therefore we provide an affordable service for those where finances are limited.  In an average week, Willows conducts around 60 counselling sessions, of which 85% are subsidised to some degree. Fundraising efforts like this are a vital part of helping us continue to meet the ever-growing need for quality counselling support.

Some of the funds will also be used to help renovate one of our counselling rooms to help maintain a comfortable and welcoming environment for clients.

What’s Next:

While Amanda recovers from this amazing achievement, we are making plans for more exciting fundraising events.  In the meantime, it’s not too late to donate to Amanda's West Highland Walk challenge.  Just follow this link: Willows Counselling & Training - JustGiving
